The water staircase and stone wall with arched recesses add to the distinguished feel of the space. The Italian Water Garden can be enjoyed from mid-April until mid-October, offering a beautiful and serene experience for visitors.
Topiary Garden
Located in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania, the Topiary Garden is a meticulously maintained park featuring over 35 specimens of highly cultivated yews. From playful bunnies to fanciful spirals, the garden is a delight for visitors of all ages. The shrubs have been groomed into various shapes such as pyramids, screws, a chair and table, and even a rabbit. The garden's historical significance dates back to ancient times, with topiary designs depicted on the walls of tombs in Egypt and ars topiara conveying social status in Rome. The Topiary Garden was once known as the Sundial Garden, as it was the location of founder Pierre S. du Pont's final construction project at Longwood. The garden features an analemmatic sundial surrounded by yews, some of which were pruned into large mounds and cones. The garden has evolved over the years, with renovations and reshaping in the 1980s to maintain its precision and beauty.
