Effective November 3, 2022, all designated state forest campsites, including Site 6, will be reserved through the Pennsylvania State Parks and Forests Reservations website. The state forest, spanning 60,000 acres in the Laurel Highlands, offers endless opportunities to explore forested landscapes. Camping at Forbes State Forest can be a leisurely stay, a basecamp for visiting other points of interest, or part of a backcountry travel experience. Motorized camping or roadside camping is permitted at designated campsites with a permit. There are no developed facilities, modern conveniences, or trash disposal facilities on state forest land. Reservations for the motorized campsites can be made online or by phone. Campers must adhere to Leave No Trace Principles and follow rules and regulations outlined in the permit. Backpack campers are also permitted in most areas of the forest for one-night stays without a permit. Campfires are not permitted during high fire danger periods.
