Unfortunately, the Wong Laundry Building has been vacant since a fire in 1970 caused extensive damage, and it has suffered from demolition by neglect due to a lack of funding for restoration. The building's unreinforced masonry structure has made it difficult to maintain, and it is considered seismically unsafe. Without intervention, the building may face demolition and redevelopment in the rapidly developing area of Portland.
