About the Business
Lone Fir Cemetery, located in Portland, Oregon, is a historic burial ground with a rich history dating back to 1846. Originally known as Mount Crawford Cemetery, it was renamed Lone Fir in 1866 after a solitary tree that still stands in the northwest corner. With over 25,000 individuals laid to rest here, Lone Fir is one of the city's oldest cemeteries and serves as a de facto arboretum with over 700 trees representing 67 species.
In 2013, Chestnut Grove Memorial Garden was opened within Lone Fir to accommodate the growing number of individuals choosing cremation. The cemetery is also undergoing a transformation with the development of a cultural heritage and healing garden to honor Chinese immigrants and patients from a nearby mental hospital.
Whether you have deep roots in the region or are new to Oregon, Lone Fir Cemetery offers a place for reflection and remembrance. Visitors can explore the grounds and learn about the stories of those buried here. Check the website for any closures due to inclement weather and help shape the future of this historic institution.

Reviews
"Had many ghostly interactions here with those passed on. Specifically Mr. Hawthorne, the psychiatrist. Had some him speaking caught during and EVP. Very beautiful and historic and an overall interesting place."
"The most iconic cemetery. Nothing better than strolling through a cemetery as old as the state of Oregon is."
"Cool old cemetery with beautiful trees. Nice place for a walk."
"Was my first time here and it did not disappoint. Very peaceful, quiet, historical, spooky kind of place."
"first time going here and it was not a disappointment. I much prefer to be around dead people than living so this was a lovely experience for my that I would highly recommend for others who also hate living people. the grass was green and lush and there was not too much mud with he rain we just had. I saw a beautiful goth couple meandering around the cemetery I'd like to see more of that for sure. all in all y'all this cemetery is the shitznitzs so y'all should come here and talk to the dead people you know not everyone in this cemetery died of natural causes......"
