Veterans Memorial
β OpenThe Veterans Memorial at Bowling Green State University in Ohio is a place of reverence and reflection dedicated to honoring the service and sacrifice of U.S. Armed Forces members. Located at 1001 East Wooster Street, the memorial features five pillars inscribed with the names of alumni and student service members who died while serving their country. Established on November 10th, the memorial includes 112 names from various conflicts, from WWI to the global war on terror in Afghanistan. This initiative was inspired by the vision of retired Marine Corps Col. Theodore Jenkins, with support from a committee of BGSU alumni, including retired Navy Capt. Dr. David Chilson and retired Army 1st Lt. David Ridenour. The Reiter family generously provided funding for the memorial, which serves as a lasting tribute to the sacrifices made by veterans. The memorial also includes chairs to honor prisoners of war and those declared missing in action.
