McGuffey House and Museum
The McGuffey House and Museum, located at 401 East Spring Street in Oxford, Ohio, is a National Historic Landmark and a popular tourist attraction. The museum aims to preserve and exhibit materials related to the life of William Holmes McGuffey, the creator of the McGuffey Eclectic Reader series, as well as the history of Miami University and 19th-century domestic life in southwest Ohio. William Holmes McGuffey, a faculty member at Miami University, compiled the first edition of the McGuffey Eclectic Reader series in this very house in 1836. These readers were widely used in American schools, teaching important lessons in reading, spelling, and civic education.
Millett Hall
Millett Hall, located at 500 East Sycamore Street in Oxford, Ohio, is a versatile institution that serves as the home of RedHawk men's and women's basketball and volleyball. Named in honor of Miami University's 16th president, John D. Millett, the building opened in 1968 and has since become a hub for athletic events, commencement exercises, plays, and concerts. With a construction cost of $7.5 million, Millett Hall houses various athletic department offices and the University ROTC offices. The venue offers a range of features and amenities for its users, including access to Physical Facilities which maintains over 2500 acres of grounds and 8 million square feet of building area.
