Nassau Station
Nassau Station, located at 10317 Clay Street in Montville, Ohio, was once the site of the Nassau Astronomical Station from 1957 to 2008. Named in honor of Dr. Jason John Nassau, this observatory was a center for research and public outreach in the field of astronomy. The central instrument at the observatory was a 36-inch reflector of Cassegrain design, built in 1957 by the Warner and Swasey Company. After being acquired by the Geauga Park District in 2008, the observatory underwent restoration and became a key feature of Observatory Park. This park, which opened in 2011, is home to various astronomical and natural history attractions, including a 25.5-inch Newtonian reflector donated by Ohio telescope-building legend Norman Oberle.
