Multicultural Genealogical Center
The Multicultural Genealogical Center, located in Chesterhill, Ohio, is a tourist attraction that serves as a resource for studying southeast Ohio's diverse histories. The center hosts monthly meetings on the first Saturday of each month (except July, September, and January) where the public can attend and participate in programs and presentations starting at 1 PM. Swiss Community Historical Society and Schumacher Homestead
The Swiss Community Historical Society and Schumacher Homestead, located at 8350 Bixel Road in Bluffton, Ohio, offers a fascinating look into the history of Swiss settlers in the Bluffton-Pandora community. The restored 1843 Swiss Homestead, including the house, garden, workshop, and barn, will be open for self-guided tours on April 6-7 from 1:00-4:00 p.m. Activities for children, such as games, toys, candle making, and cornhusk dolls, will be available, along with open fire popcorn and lemonade. Docents will be on hand to answer any questions. The Swiss Community Historical Society is currently constructing a Heritage Center using the Bixel-Basinger Swiss Settlement barn, which will provide a heated and air-conditioned event space, classroom, artifact storage, and public restrooms. This facility will allow for longer visits during tours and events, regardless of weather conditions. The barn, dismantled in 2022 and reassembled between the farmhouse and bank barn, is expected to be completed soon.
