"I went to the psychiatrist unit when I was 17. and it was absolutely awful. I was not seen my the doctor every day like everyone else and when I called it to someone’s attention I was called a pathological liar. When I would cry I was told if I didn’t cut it out they would never discharge me. I had a serious fear of certain foods and avoided orders those and they would change my order and force me to eat it because it was “healthy”. Even a couple of times they lost my food and I wouldn’t be able to eat until hours later. We were sent to our rooms for simply talking or being happy. Overall it was an awful experience and left myself and many others very traumatized when it was suppose to be something to help. PLEASE DO NOT SEND YOUR CHILDREN HERE!!!!"
"Just came from here. Doctors were very nice and helpful. Really quick experience to with how busy they were. Only complaint is from the security guard. I was the only person waiting to get checked, no line or anything behind me, and I had taken the phone charger out of my pocket and it was wrapped around my arm, as I was getting it off he said “come on” in a rude demeanor. His name was Steve. The other security guard was super nice and cracking jokes. Don’t know what this dudes problem was but if he doesn’t like his job and is that impatient that he couldn’t wait 3 seconds, he should go somewhere else."
"I honestly would give 0 stars if possible. Being in healthcare myself it is down right disappointing to see nurses on an oncology unit treat patients the way they treated my MIL who had just found out that not only did she have Cancer, but it's late in staging. They stripped a woman of the little dignity she had left. In an impossible situation they made matters worse by not helping her keep the one thing she could. It is a down right shame for any nurse to literally neglect someone by being too lazy to flush a simple catheter. She was unable to get herself up. You left her to lay for hours in her own bloody urine even after she had asked for help over and over. By the time I got to the hospital by 830 AM the urine was up to her shoulders. The day shifter came in and at least removed the sheet. However, she was left in the same gown, promised someone was on the way in to help her wash up. I offered to do so myself but my MIL wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. I left after 1pm, still she was on a bare bed, in the same nasty gown, and not even offered a wash rag to clean her hands. She wasnt cleaned up until 6pm when her dinner arrived. ... that is just plain ridiculous. This wasnt the only time she was neglected during her 17 day stay. Her last 30 hours there were brutal. She sat in bed bleeding out from her bladder while she waited on discharge and transport. (She kept asking for help and the nurses claimed her call paddle wasnt working. In a hospital that size im sure a simple switch of a paddle was possible) In that time it was reported to us that she had hemorrhoids bleeding. Which wasnt the truth, she has none. And when asked the treatment for them no straight answer was given. Not even 12 hours after finally getting out of there she was passing fist sized clots, was boarderline spetic, and shipped back to the ED. My MIL had such an awful experience here that when the ER wanted to send her back to Promedica she choose to go back to a care facility to ultimately bleed out and die if they couldnt get her anywhere else. Thankfully she was able to get to St. Vs where her care has been nothing but wonderful. In a situation that she is losing all control the nurses at St Vs have helped her regain her dignity. And have even got her stabilized to discharge and move forward. If you are a nurse that cared for my MIL at promedica you should be ashamed of yourself. Outside of one amazing nurse named Kendra you were all literal pieces of garbage. And i say that being a nurse myself. Do better."
"Took our preteen daughter here concerned about depression and wanting help finding resources. Toledo hospital called children services and said that we (the parents) were depressed and suicidal. Now I have to deal with those people for trying to get my daughter help. When i went in to ask about this i got 3 different stories. The best being, "okay, and?". They've repeatedly input insurance information wrong so I get sent to collections while my insurance would cover it if they could do thier jobs correctly. Overall I wouldn't trust this hospital for anything. If I was gravely injured in their parking lot, I would call a cab to a different hospital. They are garbage. Definitely don't think that they can give you mental health resources for your child because it's going to lead to having to talk to children services about why you are personally suicidal. Best part of all of this, not once was the word suicidal brought up by anyone except for the nurse who called children services. Now while trying to access the records so I can see how they concluded that the parents were suicidal in this whole situation I'm being told no. Terrible deceitful hospital."
"This experience is from 11/11/23. It’s taken me some time to write this out because I’m still in disbelief. I was first seen at ProMedica’s urgent care then transferred to Toledo hospital. Firstly and for most, not only did my experience in the ER last over 10 hours. It was uncomfortable. The entrance to the ER is the most ghetto thing ever. The tarps and unprofessional receptionist. They completely redid everything urgent care had already done. Clearly not reading anything in my files or chart. After my vitals were taking for the third time that evening, (came from urgent care), the person who took them removed my person from the room with no warning or asking if I was comfortable with that. When asking me questions and I couldn’t hear as the TARP covering half the room was blowing by a fan in my ear, I asked her to repeat and she became irritated by this. After going to the waiting room with no instructions on what to do, I sat for about an hour. Name finally gets called and I get to a room. Not only did multiple patients and doctors try to come into my room while I was occupying it, no one apologized. After hours of being in this room I get a very nice travel nurse who gave me medicine and recognized that I didn’t need my vitals taken for about the 6th time that night. The radiologist came to take me for a chest X-Ray. This was by far the worst part of my visit. This girl clearly didn’t read my file. She was asking if I had fallen or something fell on me. When I was there for a completely different reason. She didn’t explain instructions very well and got irritable when I was asking for clarification. For hours and hours I waited for a doctor to come check on me. Not only did no one explain to me this doctor wasn’t even in the hospital, they had no idea when she’d be arriving. I checked in around 6pm and by midnight the hospital staff had checked on me maybe two or three times still without communication from the doctor. After been seen by the nurse and given food and water, the doctor told me that should’ve never happened as it can alter result. The doctor who did see me was amazing and I’m not sure how much was communicated to her or what not but she treated me with care and gave me my dignity back. Not only did she make sure I had my person in the room but she made sure both of us were comfortable. By the end of my experience it was close to 3am. The doctor sent me with some bags to collect the clothes I needed to and said to bring them back to her. I did this and the nursing staff did not want to take them, after I explained what happened and why I was there, they had taken my clothes in. After this altercation, I received a phone call later on explaining I needed to pick up my clothes AGAIN because they weren’t going to give them to my doctor. Overall, worse hospital in Toledo. Every ProMedica facility has been a major nightmare for everyone involved. They want to charge thousands of dollars for mediocre care, services, and quality. Do better for your people."
