"My first new patient appointment to confirm pregnancy was great. Blood work was quick and easy. My second appointment they told me I have to pay $250 towards my out of pocket max/deductible for the birth (I have already met my deductible for the year from a surger this summer). I'm not due until June and it's December. It's not even a one time thing, they want $250 at every appointment. I have BCBS insurance that I delivered ALL 4 of my other kids with and never had to give my OB an interest free loan up front, for services not even rendered yet. The worst part was I was trying to understand this and the finance manager woman was trying to hurry me to get me to check in because "everyone does this, you're not special" and that I can't check in if I don't pay? So I missed an important checkup, that I drove 35 minutes for. I have to hope everything is ok until I can find another OB.This is seriously the sketchiest thing I have ever experienced here. My son sees many specialists and we have financial assistance through Duke as a family and they don't accept that there either. I would avoid this practice at all cost their practices do not seem ethical to me, or even normal."
