"Their provider Ada Nwankudu is awful and should be fired and/or removed from the profession. When I complained about Ada and asked to be switched to another provider, the office manager told it was the policy of the practice not to allow switching providers and that I should seek care elsewhere. Only after I made an official complaint in writing was I offered the ability to see a more senior provider, most likely because they realized how horrible my care had been. A more professional response from the office manager should have been to tell me that they would immediately report Ada to management and see if an exception to their policy could be made rather than ejecting me from their care - but that was not done. Instead, I was only offered a new provider after I made the complaint IN WRITING. That's a pretty awful way to treat a patient. Without getting into too much detail, Ada injects religion into all her care. She is also fat-phobic and told me at our first appointment that I should be glad about my eating difficulties/skipped meals because it'll help me lose weight and "they call it intermittent fasting these days". [Note: I have no interest in losing weight and never mentioned any weight concerns.] She told me not to worry about medication side effects because the body has "intelligent design" (e.g. religion) and it will "throw off what it doesn't like". She also subtly blames patients for medication side efffects: She told me I should NEVER read up on medication side effects because the brain will just "manifest" those effects on the body. So basically, she accused me of manifesting my own side effects. She also told me to go and buy a copy of a book that contained very religious undertones because it would help me to "reprogram my mind" (those are the exact words she used), again - even though she knew I was an atheist. Finally, she disclosed information about other patients to me in a way that seemed very intrusive to the other patient's privacy. I go to medical providers for science-based care, and that is not what you will get at Alpha Psychiatric Associates. You will get religion, patient-blaming, and woo-woo care with no scientific basis. All that with a side of fat-phobia. I recommend you not go to this place. People deserve good psychiatric care based on kindness and science, not this."
"Stay as far away from this practice as possible. They will not listen to your concerns and they will violate your HIPPA rights. They are being reported to the board for inappropriate actions and for violation of HIPPA. Please feel free to reach out if you have any questions."
"When Dr. Miah was with the clinic, I absolutely hated coming and making appointments, but my insurance left me with limited places to go. She was rude, condescending, and cut me off every time I tried to speak. She never took my concerns seriously. HOWEVER. DR. MIAH IS GONE! (thank goodness) and Dr. Ada has been absolutely wonderful! She always seems invested in your life and how you are doing. I no longer get anxiety any time I have to make an appointment to get my medication refilled. It's a nice change and I think the right one to turn things around here. Give Dr. Ada a chance."
"I worked with Dr. Rohima Miah a few times and I should have heeded the reviews I read. My first visit, I was very uncomfortable as she was extremely condescending but I was in desperate need of help, so I returned a second time. Our second visit she made a complete 180° and I felt optimistic about our future partnership. On my third visit to tell her a medication had stopped working, she became very irritated and rude. I almost walked out about 3 minutes into our appointment after she asked me what medication I would like to take. She's the doctor! And a very unprofessional one at that. At one point, she even confused me with another patient with a similar name, but with a very different history/plan which could have compromised the health of me and the other patient! I have also met with Karen Bieniek, and disliked her as well. I felt as though she nit-picked everything I had to say as if looking for problems that did not exist. The only positive experiences I had at Alpha were with the front desk staff. No complaints there. I strongly suggest folks who are considering Alpha to reconsider. I have found much more suitable providers at MindPath Care Center."
"Their office staff needs some serious training. I wasn’t being confrontational at all and was talking calmly to Kim Harris explaining that I needed to cancel the future appointment I had, and she hung up on me immediately without letting me finish what I was saying and why I needed to cancel the appointment. I can understand if someone is being confrontational, but that wasn’t even the case, there was absolutely no reason for her behavior. So it did catch me off guard, because my previous interactions were good with the clinic. I saw Dr. Rohima and I tried to explain to her that I am struggling with finances right now and that I can’t schedule appointments back to back to back. To me, it did not seem like she listened at all and invalidated everything I said. She seemed very condescending. She also seemed like she had a total lack of empathy, and seemed very uncaring. When I told her that I could not afford all of the appointments, she just stated “I think you can”, and went on to have another appointment scheduled right away with barely time in between. She did not work with me either about prescribing me a cheaper medication after I called the clinic to tell them I could not afford it and asked if I could be prescribed something cheaper. She prescribed a new medication that just hit the market, so it is expensive as hell. I ended up hospitalized and almost died from a suicide attempt after leaving this clinic and trying to call them at the pharmacy. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone and I will be searching for a clinic that hires caring professionals. I am updating my review. I just received a bill but it’s late because they incorrectly put my address down in their system. I saved all paperwork I filled out and I entered everything correctly. This is a piss poor excuse of a clinic. They operate like a community mental health clinic. Bare minimum, no effort with patients, incorrect data entry, and unprofessional employees. I would recommend finding a psychiatrist elsewhere. Best Day Psychiatry and Counseling PC is a very good clinic. I would recommend going there for psychiatric services."
