Old Stone House
The Old Stone House, located at 770 Old Stone House Road in Salisbury, North Carolina, is a museum and tourist attraction operated by the Rowan Museum. This non-profit organization is dedicated to preserving the history of Rowan County from its earliest inhabitants to the present day. Through exhibitions, educational programs, research, and historical reenactments, visitors can learn about the lived experiences of the people of Rowan County and the surrounding Piedmont region. The Old Stone House offers tours and activities that allow visitors to immerse themselves in 18th century colonial life. From woodworking and colonial dancing to 18th century cooking demonstrations, there are plenty of opportunities to experience history firsthand. The museum is just one of four historic properties in Rowan County where visitors can explore the rich heritage of the area.
Tucker House
Tucker House, located at 418 North Person Street in Raleigh, North Carolina, is a historic institution with a rich history dating back to 1914. Originally built for Garland S. Tucker, owner of G.S. Tucker Furniture Company, the home was generously donated to the City of Raleigh by the Tucker Family in 1975. The house is available for rental from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. every day, excluding holidays. This beautiful venue is perfect for small weddings, receptions, parties, and other special events. The downstairs area includes a parlor, piano room, dining room, two sitting rooms, and a spacious catering kitchen. With a capacity for up to 100 people or 50 for a seated event, the Tucker House retains its original flooring and does not allow dancing.
Pittsboro Community House
The Pittsboro Community House, located at 65 Thompson Street in Pittsboro, North Carolina, is a historic institution undergoing renovations to become ADA compliant by summer 2024. This public gathering space has a rich history, originally built in 1936 as a New Deal era project. It has served various purposes over the years, including as a Town Library and Union Hall for the local textile mill union. The main great room is 900 square feet and can accommodate up to 140 patrons. Stay tuned for the reopening of the Community House for rentals and indoor programs once renovations are complete.
