"Omg this place is absolutely amazing. Dementia/ Alzheimer’s is already a complex disease to understand and maneuver through.Having a care team that explains as much as possible and actually try and offer solutions for the caregiver and the patient means so much!! I wish every elderly/ geriatric patient had access to a care team like this! Thank you all for the compassion and the knowledge"
"This is probably a really great place for a lot of people, but it was a terrible place for my mom. Before going there she was diagnosed with Gullian-Barre and just yesterday she was diagnosed witg CIDP, the chronic form of Gullian-Barre. While at Sticht Center she declined. I believe she declined because she was overworked in therapy. Overworking is a huge "NO" for GBS patients. Being overworked caused her to make no progress during her time there and actually decline, at least that is what I found from the countless research articles I have now read. Upon being discharged she could not even stand, but the workers were adamant that she was doing fabulous and making great progress. Due to being concerned for her safety at home, my dad took her to another facility. She was admitted to post-ICU through the ER. I am confused how one facilty can discharge her and say she is doing great and another facility admitted her into post-ICU. Upon being discharged the Dr. at Sticht did not do any type of medical examination besides looking at her. If he would have he might would have noticed she was dehydrated, having difficulty breathing and her protein levels were way too high. All of this was discovered when she was admitted into the new facility (hours after discharge from Sticht). They also have a CNA there, her name is Tammy. She yelled at my mom, refused to help her use the bathroom and let her sit in pee for an hour. Tammy was mean and does not need go work with the public if she is truly that mean on a regular basis. I hope she was just having a bad day, otherwise I feel very sorry for her patients. Other than Tammy, everyone acted really nice and seemed really friendly, but I do not think that anyone there knew anything about my mom's condition or tried to learn. GBS is rare and in order to treat it you have to read, research and consult with others. I do not think anyone there was doing that, otherwise she would have been treated differently. The only good thing about her being discharged prematurely is that she ended up back in a facility with people that are willing to do their research to meet her needs. She is finally making some progress and I can not help but think it is due to actually being properly treated."
"I am truly thankful for Samantha Rogers, PA at the geriatric clinic. She was incredibly compassionate and gave excellent care to my mother during the years of her entire Alzheimer's disease progression until my mothers death. I couldn't have asked for better care. I also am thankful for the care the nurses and doctors gave my mother in the hospital care within the Stitch center when my mom was very sick. I recommend to everyone who has an aging loved one."
"Mom received the best of care here in 2013 at the Acquired Brain Injury unit after a stroke and I am eternally grateful for those that provided her care. They got her through a very rough time and she was able to return to an independent life and enjoy her family once again. I even learned from them how to provide tracheotomy and personal care for her once she returned home. Thank God for this place and these people."
"So far not impressed. They took my mother here and her bathroom smelled like pee, they never brought a schedule, said her meals would be supervised in a common dining area but there was no supervision, visits off site are limited to 4 hours at a time and you'll be asked to leave the facility as a visitor at 8pm. My father who as been at my mother's side every morning when she wakes up, goes to work, and then stays with her until she goes to sleep for the night was told in no uncertain terms that he must leave at 8pm and that the family as a whole must stop "enabling" her. The staff is rude and I'm generally not impressed. The sooner she comes home the better. Our house is no 4 star hotel, but at least our bathroom doesn't reek of urine!"
