"MedCost isn't good for anything other than providing unnecessary stress to members. For 8 months I have been fighting with them to reprocess claims that they processed out of network in ERROR. Every month I call to check the status and it's something new each time that keeps delaying the reprocessing. I'm now stuck with $6,000.00 worth of doctor bills and having to cancel doctors appointments because I don't want to add to the debt already accumulated due their incompetency. Soon as I can locate the appropriate people to file a complaint with, I will most definitely be doing so."
"this is without a doubt the WORST insurance I have EVER had. High deductible and limited network aside, MedCost does everything in its power to evade providing coverage for patients. On multiple occasions I've tried to use my insurance at the pharmacy only to find out the MedCost refuses to cover me because they claim I have "other primary insurance" even though they have been my sole insurer for MONTHS now. I've even gone so far as to prove to them IN WRITING that my insurance through my previous employer (where I have not worked for over a year now) is no longer applicable and they STILL are leaving me with the same issue. I have been left with no choice but to overpay or forego necessary medications while I am actively ill because of their negligence. This is extremely frustrating, and if you can avoid being under their policy, you should!"
"Suddenly changed coverage of prescription meds on patient. Called at 5:25 pm before they close at 5:30 pm and phone lines were already shut. I guess the 5:30 pm is an arbitrary time ….tried calling again at 8:20 am. Still went straight to voicemail saying I did not call between their business hours if 8 am to 5:30 pm… hmmmm"
"Response to owner: I am still waiting for a representative to contact me in reference to my claims issues. Just as you instructed I emailed my information to the advised email address a week ago and I still have not heard from anyone. I do not intend to have this linger another 6 months. Due to this ongoing issue I have cancelled doctor appointments because I don't want to add further debt to what has already accumulated due to my claims being processed incorrectly. The Absolute WORST! of the WORST! insurance any company can offer their employees. Due to me living outside of the in-network radius my claims are to be processed by First Health provided I see providers that are within the Network( the insurance clause clearly states this within the coverage agreement) and every single claim that have been sent to them from First Health providers, they have processed them as out of network and applied the balance to me. I am now swimming in medical bills that were processed incorrectly and for the past 5 months I have been trying to get them to correct their processing error. These insurance companies should be fined for breaching clause and agreements just so they wont have to pay out $$. I hate I ever enrolled in this trashy a** coverage. While I'm being sent pay now or go to collection letters, they are dragging their feet to reprocessing claims correctly."
"This has to be the worst insurance company EVER ! Every single claim was denied & they've used every excuse imaginable. We’ve filled out more forms than I’ve had to & only to STILL not have dr’s office get paid . Every visit we have to call ourselves to see what the problem is . $1,200/month for a family plan with NO coverage is insane ! Not one single dr or hospital bill has been paid in months . If you’re considering this company save yourself the trouble & run !"
