Town of Hudson Rec
● OpenTown of Hudson Rec, located at 450 Redwood Street in Hudson, North Carolina, is a park dedicated to providing recreational opportunities for the community. Currently, the institution is focused on the removal of Redwood Park's Large Shelter, which is 53 years old and deteriorating. The plan is to construct a new shelter before summer to improve the park for all visitors. The Hudson Recreation & Town of Hudson are honoring those who have contributed to the park over the last 55 years by offering a chance to have their names displayed at the newly renovated Optimist Park Facilities. Achievement Academy of Durham
● ClosedAchievement Academy of Durham, located at 1905 Chapel Hill Road in Durham, North Carolina, is a school that offers the Durham Literacy Center’s Youth Achievement Program (YAP). This program provides intensive, individualized high school equivalency instruction to out-of-school young adults ages 16-24 in a safe and supportive environment. With strong role models, academic, career, and social skills counseling, students have the opportunity to explore various post-secondary and career pathways. The program, which meets Monday-Thursday from 9:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., is free of charge and includes pre-testing to determine each student's current level and personal goals. Small group classes are then assigned based on these assessments, with two experienced teachers providing direct instruction daily. Students also have access to computer-assisted instruction to improve specific skills and accelerate learning.
