Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center
The Hannah Block Historic USO/Community Arts Center, located at 120 South 2nd Street in Wilmington, North Carolina, has been a hub for creative programs and community engagement for over half a century. This multi-use facility offers five studios, including dance studios, available for nonprofit organizations to rehearse plays, musicals, and recitals. Classes in various artistic disciplines are also held in these studios. The center is home to the Orange Street Potters and the Hannah Block Second Street Stage, an auditorium used for rehearsals and performances. Additionally, the facility can be rented for corporate and private functions, with a kitchen available for use. Managed by the Thalian Association Community Theatre, the facility is overseen by a volunteer Advisory Board appointed by the City Council. Parking is conveniently located next to the building for patrons. The center also offers language workshops, youth classes, and a Youth Season for 2023-2024. The Thalian Association Community Theatre, a nonprofit organization founded in 1788, provides arts education and performing arts excitement in Wilmington, with offices and auditions held at the Community Arts Center. Operating hours are Monday to Thursday from 9am to 9pm, Friday and Saturday from 9am to 5pm, closed on Sundays and city holidays. Paid parking is enforced 24/7 unless otherwise noted.
