Valle Crucis Community Park is a popular tourist attraction located at 2892 Broadstone Road in Banner Elk, North Carolina, United States. Our park offers a variety of activities and events for visitors to enjoy, including environmental education programs, bird watching, exploring wetlands, and activities along the Watauga River.
Our Board of Directors and Park Leadership are currently working on creating a strategic plan to guide our work over the next three years. We value input from our key stakeholders, including Board Members, Staff, Donors, Sponsors, and Park Visitors. We have created a survey to gather feedback and insights to inform our plans, and we encourage you to participate.
As a nonprofit organization, 80% of our operating budget comes from donations from visitors like you. We also host an Annual Auction to raise funds for the park. If you're interested in getting involved, we have various events happening year-round that you can participate in.

"A beautiful community park, that is a must stop and enjoy with family, friends, and well behaved dogs. This non- profit park that relies on cash donations, which we were happy to leave at entry or exit, voluntary cash drop box. BEAUTIFUL and very peaceful at this park, totally paved walking trails, unusual awesome statues, arts, trees, restrooms, vending. We ENJOYED a leisure visit that laster well over two hours. Such a unique and well kept park. Can't say enough good things. We thoroughly enjoyed!! A Gem of a community park that is family friendly, dog friendl and wheelchair friendly!! There is no excuse for anyone not to visit this very educational park."
"Located behind the Mast Store Annex, this park is definitely a hidden gem. Plenty of equipment for the kids to play on, as well as a path to walk on with a relaxing bubbling brook in the background. There is access to the creek so the kids can wade in the cool water. There are also very nice bathrooms. Visitors can drop an optional donation into the box on the way in."
"Birding opportunities as well as playgrounds, walking tracks, wetlands, stream, shelters for picnics, bathrooms, dog walking, and events. Wish Iโd known about the birdwatching event yesterday morning by the local Audubon group! Great stuff!"
"This place was INCREDIBLE! Even more incredible, it's all funded by donations. Absolutely stunning views at all times of the day. A little something for everyone... Strolling the paved paths, walking the grass trails, sitting riverside, fishing, playgrounds, sculptures, lots of wildlife, wetlands area, music events, picnic areas, and drop dead gorgeous sunrise and sunsets. If you love nature and beautiful things, stop by if you're in the high country."
"Absolutely beautiful park. It has anything you could possibly want. Perfect day out. Picnic tables and the play ground are located near the parkinglot. You can swim and raft here. The wooden carvings are gorgeous! We gladly paid 5. We will be back every summer!"
