"Beautiful dresses and I was so excited to support a local business, but brides — please don’t buy your dress here and save yourself the distress as this is BY FAR the worst company / individual I worked with for my wedding. I’m so glad I took my dress elsewhere after it came in so they couldn’t ruin my experience further. They charged me twice for my veil, gaslit me into believing that my phone wasn’t working for a complete change of time + location for my preferred seamstress fitting, then called me verbatim a “terrible person.” I have receipts from square on my CC showing the veil charged twice as well as data logs pulled from Verizon from when I was supposedly getting texts regarding my fitting appointment, and an audio recording of my conversation with Gineen. when I asked her to send me a text again it magically went through after my appointment time had passed and also reflects on the Verizon logs…"

"Update: I do not recommend this shop to any bride. My experience after making a purchase was starkly different than the fitting. I experienced the unprofessional & rude behavior other reviews describe from the shop owner. I found her expertise to be questionable, her practices to be unreliable, as she was not only dishonest with me about my orders on several occasions, but brash and insulting. I won’t soon forget the end result of my experiences. Again, I DO NOT recommend. Original review: I won’t soon forget the lovely experience I had shopping for my bridal gown at Gavin Christianson! The shop is situated in Downtown Durham and has an elegant-industrial vibe. The selection of dresses for a plus size bride seemed endless. I have been to other shops with such limited styles for plus brides, this shop was so refreshing in the fact that every style I wanted to try, I was able to. Gineen pulled out all the stops for my and my guests during our VIP consultation. She was super attentive to my likes and dislikes, even down to the type of champagne I enjoy. She was able to pick up on my style so well that I ended up falling in love with the dress she picked out for me. I’m SO happy that I was able to say yes to the dress at Gavin Christianson Bridal!"

I worked with Kayla and she was a true delight. She called me weeks before to get to know me and what I was looking for. And I sent over pictures of dress inspirations.
