Clearsky Adventure Centre Northern Ireland

● Closed
Downpatrick BT30 7LT, United Kingdom

“I booked a double kayaking experience for my family of 4 (2 daughters aged 18 and 13). The booking process was really straight forward with great instructions on the confirmation email. We were greeted by James who was really friendly and informative. I had a fear from a previous canoe experience, James was extremely patient and helpful. We had a fantastic 2 hours on the lough, experiencing the seals and enjoying the beautiful water. My nerves appeased during the experience, so much so that we finished our time with a pier jump. We will definitely be back and was a great family experience.”

Funny Farm Adventures

● Open
80 Ballybannan Road, Castlewellan BT31 9ER, United Kingdom

“Another 5 lovely nights staying at Funny Farm Adventures near Castlewellan, owner Alan as always is friendly and very accommodating. The new toilet and shower block is beautifully done, with indoor kitchen facilities. The majestic views of the Mournes make this a go to spot to enjoy the countryside and the view! Great for camping or touring caravans, with a static van and glamping pods are available too. Alan always a call away if anyone runs into a problem, he wants everyone to enjoy their time there and do what he can to make it right! Thankfully we were problem free! Fantastic campsite for those with young children, safe and open space for them to run and tire themselves out! Short drive to Castlewellan and Newcastle. Dogs welcome!”

Tollymore Forest Park

● Open
Bryansford Road, Newcastle BT33 0PR, United Kingdom

“A beautiful forest park which is situated around 2 miles away from Newcastle city. There are some historical bridged and constructions inside the park. Inside the park there are many rivers and small waterfalls. Also there are 3 Game of Thrones locations in the park. Number of trails are available which you can select according to your interest, which include some trails with high elevated areas and some others with mostly flat. I think the park is more attractive and beautiful in Autumn.”

The Peace Maze

● Open
6-8 Burren Walk, Castlewellan BT31 9AF, United Kingdom

“Got lost and loved it. I haven't been in a maze for many years and my partner and I really enjoyed this. It felt like just the right difficulty level and probably took us around twenty minutes to complete. The reward is a fantastic view of the Mournes. Quite a few families out at the same time as us and the children seemed to enjoy it; either leading the way, jumping out at people or directing others from vantage points.”

Camping Tollymore Forest Park

● Open
Tollybrannigan Road, Newcastle BT33 0PR, United Kingdom

“Relaxed and spacious site with perfect views of the Mournes. Loads of local cycling and walking, plus some more adventurous routes for the active types (we managed a walk up to Slieve Donard and back from the site). Washroom facilities are plentiful and spotlessly clean with loads of hot water (but perhaps a bit dated). Loved it.”

Mountpanther Farm Park

● Closed
39 Dundrum Road, Clough, Downpatrick BT30 8SJ, United Kingdom

“Well what can I say- this place is awesome. They don't pack too many people in. Plenty of space and tables to sit and eat at or have a rest and the staff are honestly second to none. Loads of activities and the animals are well looked after. David the sherrif and Maya the witch were two of the kids favourite aswell as the dancing chicken! Honestly such a great day out and I'm so glad we took the 3 kids.”

Glasswater Wood

● Open
55-69 Glasswater Road, Downpatrick BT30 9JA, United Kingdom

“Absolutely beautiful place, paths are great even for someone with a disability, different lengths of walks. Could use more seats around the woods. Sadly its been used by many dog walkers who don't know how to use waste bags, giving that the wood trust has a bin at entrance, maybe if they put bins around woods people would not only use the bins instead of trees, hedges etc but pick the dog waste up. There are children who go to the woods and it's very dangerous for them if the pick it up, it can lead to blindness. I love dogs but it isn't fair to other walkers or the wood trust who are providing such a lovely place to go too.”

Meelmore Lodge

● Open
52 Trassey Road, Bryansford, Newcastle BT33 0QB, United Kingdom

“Nice place with a cafe. Charged my devices while using amenities & had a coffee at the cafe. Staff seamed to lack diversity, however i only attended for 1 hr on 1 particular day, the circumstance may not be a problem. Anyways, staff were friendly and kind, compassionate of the standard rainy weather. Cafe service was great, didnt have to wait long to be served & wait for drinks was minimal even though the cafe was full. Would definitely recommend the place.”

Seaforde Gardens & Tropical Butterfly House

● Closed
Seaforde Gardens, Seaforde, Downpatrick BT30 8PG, United Kingdom

“Had a beautiful time at the butterfly house and gardens, got there sort of early and just sat for as long as possible in the butterfly house enjoying them fly about. It was a really lovely day for my mental health. The day was quite wet but the gardens looked really magical in the rain, when we visited the peacocks were walking around with their babies. We got some coffee at the railway Street cafe on site and just enjoyed the day being in such a beautiful place with the birds and butterflies”

Kent Amusements

● Closed
79 Central Promenade, Newcastle BT33 0HH, United Kingdom

“This place was amazing, a good variety of over 18s gambling machines, and lower jackpot gambling machines. Some proper driving games outrun 2 ( complete with moving car ) and Mario kart GP. Shooting games space invaders and nerf for a chance at big ticket payouts, as well as games of skill ( bowling and American football ) and some great games and rides for smaller kids. The place even has dodgems, and I lost my mum to the 2p machines for hours, very highly recommended”
