Binghamton University Nature Preserve
Located in Vestal, New York, the Binghamton University Nature Preserve is a 190-acre park and tourist attraction that boasts a 20-acre wetland. The Friends of the Nature Preserve group, made up of faculty, staff, students, and community members, work to preserve the natural areas on campus and in Broome County.
Four Mile Creek Preserve
Four Mile Creek Preserve is a 72-acre park located at 1433-1439 Lake Road in Webster, New York, United States. Purchased by the Town of Webster in 2004 under the open space referendum, the preserve features sections of Four Mile Creek and its major tributary Salt Creek. Visitors can enjoy 2.15 miles of packed-dirt trails with three bridges and multiple boardwalks, showcasing a variety of ecosystems including old growth forest, succession forest, and wetlands. The park offers multi-use trails for activities such as walking, biking, snowshoeing, and cross-country skiing, with dogs allowed on leash. Fishing is permitted in Four Mile Creek and Salt Creek (license required), with special Great Lakes Tributary regulations in place. Motorized vehicles, fires, camping, firearms, and trapping are prohibited at the preserve. For reporting violations or concerns, visitors can call 1-800-TIPP DEC (1-800-847-7332).
