"My husband fell from a ladder and was in extreme pain in his lower back to tailbone area and to a lesser extent his ribs. We waited a day to determine that the pain would not reduce. On the positive side we got in to see Dr. Contillo immediately but the experience was very unsatisfactory. He ordered the x-ray of only my husband's ribs despite both my husband and I telling the doctor that the primary area of concern was his backside & that sitting was impossible. He also declined to prescribe any serious pain medication - just OTC. We were sent home without the doctor even giving us the results on the rib x-rays & told to call back in a few days. We had to return two days later because my husband remained in extreme pain in his lower back. When we persisted that we thought the problem was in the sacrum or tailbone the doctor told us the best option would be to go White Plains hospital to the emergency room. It took roughly 6 hours to get a CT scan and we were not able to see a doctor to read the test or prescribe pain killers. Over the course of the next two days I called doctors until I could find someone who would see my husband on short notice - roughly 3 days. Luckily I found a highly rated spine doctor. He took his own X-rays of the lower back within a few minutes of our arrival time. He read the CT results and X-rays on the spot and we learned that my husband had fractured his sacrum in two places and thus would be in extreme pain for at least a month while the bones healed. The spine doctor prescribed some appropriate pain killers and advised us on how to best care for my husband during the period of greatest difficulty. Dr. Contillo's non-challance and failure to order the appropriate X-rays led to my husband experiencing extreme pain unnecessarily for a week with no pain meds."
