Battery Weed
Battery Weed, located on North Weed Road in New York, United States, is a historic tourist attraction that was once part of the Fort Wadsworth complex. Originally constructed by the New York State as part of the 2nd system of defense, the land was eventually transferred to federal hands in 1847. Under the supervision of U.S. Engineer Capt. Robert E. Lee, Battery Morton and Battery Hudson were modernized and renamed during the 1840s. During the Civil War, South Cliff Battery and North Cliff Battery were constructed to replace and supplement existing fortifications. Fort Richmond, later renamed Fort Wadsworth, was built between 1847 and 1862, with Battery Weed being the new name given to a specific structure in 1902. Fort Tompkins, the last of the 3rd system fortifications at Fort Wadsworth, was also constructed during this time.

CFJ Park Carousel
Welcome to CFJ Park Carousel, a cherished gem located at 98 CFJ Boulevard, Johnson City, New York. This historic park, established in 1923, was named in honor of Charles F. Johnson and was designed for the enjoyment of the Endicott-Johnson employees and the local community. At the heart of the park is the magnificent carousel, a generous gift from George F. Johnson to the children of Johnson City. As one of only 19 remaining Allan Herschell Carousels in the world, our carousel is a testament to timeless craftsmanship, featuring 72 beautifully hand-carved wooden horses known as "jumpers." The park is a vibrant community hub, offering a range of recreational facilities including a spray park, little league and softball fields, basketball, volleyball, and tennis courts, playground equipment, and three picnic pavilions. Restroom facilities are also available for your convenience. The carousel and spray park operate daily from 12 PM to 6 PM, weather permitting, from the 4th of July through Labor Day weekend.
