It features woodlands and grasslands along McCarn Creek, offering a diverse range of wildlife habitats including shrub lands, oak and pine forests, and a creek running through. The preserve can be accessed from a trailhead on East Line Rd., across from the Antique Boat Museum's Doebler Storage Building. The Ingerson family was inspired to conserve this land in honor of their father, who instilled in them a love for nature. The preserve is also home to two miles of the Sissy Danforth Rivergate Trail, restricted to non-motorized traffic. By protecting this land, McCarn Creek is preserved as an important spawning habitat for fish species and helps clean water that flows into the St. Lawrence River. The preserve is part of the Thousand Islands Land Trust's mission to protect the natural beauty and wildlife habitats of the region. Visitors can enjoy paddling, wildlife viewing, and exploring the remains of a British fort from the American Revolution. Join TILT in supporting the conservation efforts of the S.
