The playground area will be temporarily closed for resurfacing, while the ball fields, tennis courts, and basketball courts will remain open. The National Park Service and New York City Department of Parks and Recreation provide ranger programs on site, including kayak launchings, natural history explorations, and arts and crafts programs. The park has seen various improvements over the past year, including the installation of picnic tables, water fountains, and new lighting. Frank Charles Park, spanning 20 acres in Queens, was designed in the 1940s and transferred to the National Park Service in 1972. It serves as a recreational haven for both locals and tourists, preserving the natural beauty of Jamaica Bay.

Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge
