"We have been beyond happy with The Early Childhood Center at Sarah Lawrence College. They have the most amazing developmentally appropriate, all play in preschool and tons of play in K and grade 1, program. They respect each child and do an outstanding job supporting individual emotional and social growth. We have been so blessed to have our daughter attend since she was 3. She is now in grade 1. Classes are small, each class has 1 lead teacher, an Assistant teacher, and several college students who are studying early childhood education at the college. The children are outside multiple times each day. They create art freely, play in the mud kitchen, engage in pretend play, bake, and so much more. Some academics begin in the mixed K/1 class but there's still plenty of time for free choice play and outside time. Some of our daughter's favorite activities this year include journal time, building structures, tinkering with loose parts, working on phonics and practicing her writing, painting, and exploring nature. The ECC is simply an amazing place!! The teachers are so caring and the progressive curriculum is amazing for children. It is truly a hidden gem that we are so very grateful to have found!!"
