Our historic building, constructed in 1938, exudes timeless charm with its beautiful brick facade, majestic columns, high ceilings, and large windows. Originally the site of Riverhead’s first high school, it now serves as a nurturing environment where young minds flourish from 8:00 AM to 2:37 PM each school day.

Situated on South 2nd Street in Lindenhurst, New York, this historical site commemorates the legendary barnstorming game played by baseball icons Babe Ruth and Lou Gehrig on the very same spot in 1930. This is the fourth historical marker placed by the Suffolk Sports Hall of Fame, celebrating a momentous event where more than 4,000 fans witnessed Ruth hit an astonishing 500-foot home run and Gehrig secure three hits against Addie Klein’s Lindenhurst Nine. After the game, these legends enjoyed a drink at the nearby Plaza, a hotel, restaurant, and bar on Montauk Highway.

Our museum is dedicated to preserving and interpreting the rich history of Long Island's railroads. With facilities in both Riverhead and Greenport, we invite you to explore our collection of historic rail cars, locomotives, and interactive exhibits. Experience a ride on our miniature LIRR park train from the 1964 New York World’s Fair, or step inside a 1960s LIRR caboose. Our historic Lionel Layout, with its 83 accessories, is a must-see for model train enthusiasts.
