Art History and Criticism
β OpenThe Graduate Program in Art History & Criticism at Stony Brook University, located in Stony Brook, New York, offers a unique focus on modern and contemporary art influenced by media, technology, and material culture. Led by visionary Lawrence Alloway, the program was one of the first in the world to support graduate study in this field. Our dynamic, interdisciplinary curriculum at the M.A. and Ph.D. levels allows for individualized study and research opportunities in collaboration with New York City's renowned museums and galleries. Through the New York Inter-University Doctoral Consortium, students can take courses at institutions like Columbia, NYU, CUNY, and Princeton.
