The Gouverneur Museum, located at 30 Church Street in Gouverneur, New York, is a fascinating institution that offers a glimpse into the rich history of the area. The museum features artifacts on three floors, an exhibit building outside, an Annex at the Gouverneur and St. Lawrence County Fairgrounds, and an authentic one-room schoolhouse. The collection at the museum was built from local donations, showcasing unique items that connect us to the people of the past. The main building, a former Victorian home known as the Presbyterian Manse, was purchased by the Historical Association in 1974 and opened as a museum in 1976. It was placed on the National Historical Registry in 2015.
