"Kunstraum's Artist in Residence program was instrumental in the development of the body of work I have been focused on for the past 2 years since my residency. The residency came at a time where I was mostly working in a solo studio setup after grad school, and wanted to be more connected to an artist community. There were numerous openings, meetings with curators and critics, and opportunities to connect with other artists. The cost of the residency was far less than the average cost of a studio for the same amount of time, and Kunstraum provided all the necessary documentation I needed for securing a grant. I am now exhibiting the work I made at Kunstraum, and I am grateful to the people I met there."
"Kunstraum is a unique studio offering in New York City. With a curator in residence and a rotation of international artists in residence, the studios are a combination of typical work spaces and arts programming. There is a strong emphasis on community from opportunities for studio visits with gallerists and art industry professionals to shows hosted in the gallery which is attached to the studio spaces. I appreciated getting to know other artists and having space to develop my painting further. I have so many good memories from my two years at Kunstraum, I highly recommend it."
"I was a member for 6 months and had only positive experiences. They lay everything out in the manual prior to signing rental agreement and are available during office hours if extra assistance is needed. I enjoyed the studio space as well as the gallery space. Sharing space was never an issue. All deposits were returned on time. The support and available resources are absolutely essential to a growing artist, especially one who never went to art school. I had the time and space to experiment with my work there. It really is a great incubator for exploring ideas and bringing them to life."
"Kunstraum is a gallery I love to return to when I stroll through Clinton Hill, with great shows by emerging artists mixed with established positions. It's right on the edge of the culturally buzzing Navy Yard and 16 minutes via the bike from the LES! Excellent food options in the area as it is only 5 min from Pratt. The friendly, knowledgeable staff is always welcoming and connects me with new emerging voices. Highly recommended!"
"I became a member-artist at Kunstraum in 2018, and have rented two shared spaces since then. This is my first “artist community,” and it has changed my work and creative life. The space and community are well-organized, and the group shows have introduced me to curators, other artists, and a new community of driven creatives. I can directly attribute my time here to increased sales of my watercolors, as well!"
