Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery
Welcome to Ss. Peter & Paul Cemetery, a historic and serene final resting place located at 1 Veit Road, Hamburg, New York. Established in 1875 by Rev. Vincenz Scheffels, our cemetery spans over 12 acres of peaceful grounds, rich with history and tradition. Originally, parishioners were laid to rest around the church, following the customs of the old country (Germany). Recognizing the need for a dedicated space, Rev. Scheffels acquired this land, which was later expanded by Msgr. Anthony Veit in 1929. Our cemetery is home to many early Hamburg residents and beloved clergy, including Rev. Scheffels, Rev. Bornefeld, Msgr. Veit, and Msgr. Anton LaRusch. In 1991-92, Msgr. Gerard Green made significant improvements, including the installation of drainage systems and the widening of the entrance, ensuring a welcoming and well-maintained environment for visitors.
