In 1936, the mill's legacy was revived when Mr. and Mrs. Everett Hawkins entrusted the mill and the miller’s cottage to the Melville family. With a vision to preserve history, Richard Haviland Smythe was commissioned to construct a simulated mill featuring a working water wheel, celebrating the enduring legacy of the mills that once graced the pond. Today, this operational wheel stands as a testament to the area's past and serves as the headquarters for the picturesque Frank Melville Park.
