Peter C. DuBois House
The Peter C. DuBois House, located at 36 Slocum Road in Beacon, New York, is a historic Greek Revival building that has been a significant part of the Hudson Valley's architectural landscape. Originally built on a 280-acre farm owned by DuBois, the house is made of local clay brick and granite quarried from the Hudson Highlands. Situated on a small rise overlooking the river and the Highlands, the house represents the grandeur of colonial manor houses. In the 20th century, the house was repurposed as a sanatorium and underwent renovations, including the addition of a third story. After changing ownership several times, the house eventually became vacant and fell into disrepair. However, in recent years, the house has been restored and is once again a dwelling, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
