Welcome to Nyu Dermatopathology Lab, a premier dermatopathology service located at 530 1st Ave., New York, NY 10016. As part of the esteemed NYU Langone Health’s Ronald O. Perelman Department of Dermatology, we boast one of the largest and most renowned academic dermatopathology programs in the nation. Under the expert guidance of Dr. Ata Moshiri, we offer comprehensive diagnostic services for skin specimens, supported by our College of American Pathologists (CAP) accredited laboratory. Our commitment to excellence extends beyond diagnostics to outstanding patient care and the education of future dermatopathologists, dermatology and pathology residents, and medical students. Through rotations in our general and specialty dermatology clinics, trainees gain invaluable exposure to a wide array of dermatologic conditions, enriching their clinical and pathological correlation skills. Our extensive teaching collection, featuring thousands of glass slides and virtual images, further enhances the learning experience.

Dr. Richard F. Spaide, MD
Dr. Spaide specializes in diseases of the retina and vitreous. His particular interests include retinal surgery, Macular Degeneration, Macular Holes, Macular Pucker, Diabetic Retinopathy, and intraocular inflammation. He has published more than 300 articles and 50 book chapters and 9 books about the diagnosis and treatment of Retinal Diseases. He has given lectures around the world.
Michael J. Cooney, MD, MBA
Dr. Cooney is a practicing vitreoretinal surgeon who was previously an assistant professor of ophthalmology at Johns Hopkins University and later became the director of the Medical Retina Service, the Duke Center for Macular Degeneration, and the medical retina fellowship program from 2001 to 2005. He received a MBA degree from Kenan-Flagler Business School at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill.
