"Receptionist when checking meds a major attitude adjustment. The PA told us one thing and she was rude and said basically said she wasn’t doing that. Awful first experience when dealing with the front desk like we were beneath them."
"My dealings with Dr. Lindsey Clark have been everything I could ask for from a doctor when I was in need. Her expertise, honesty and willingness to answer all questions to make me comfortable with having my first surgery was top notch. There was no pushing for surgery but both of us were on the same page that for me to get back to a normal way of life surgery was the correct path. It is currently one day after surgery for a moderate to severe disc herniation causing severe sciatica pain. I had not been able to walk more than a few feet at a time for 2 months and not been able to sit upright for a month. Along with hardly being able to sleep due to pain the entire time. While I am very sore today, the nerve pain is basically gone, I was able to sleep without issue and I couldn't be more grateful. Dr Clark, Val and the front desk staff have all been extremely kind and helpful throughout this journey. I must say though when meeting with the PA you must advocate for yourself. Do not hesitate to express your discomfort, I believe I have a fairly high pain tolerance and may have not expressed how much pain I was in and how much effect this had on my life. In the end I don't think this delayed treatment, but once meeting with Dr Clark I felt I was where I needed to be."
"I sought help from UBOrtho for acute shoulder pain after a snowboard crash in Feb 2023 left me unable to lift my left arm! Over a couple of weeks I regained its use w/o debilitating pain but something was wrong. I thought rotator cuff and called UBOrtho in April but no one could see me until May and if it was an emergency to go to the ER. I waited to see a PA who after a shoulder/cervical Xray eval and physical examination diagnosed bicipital tendonitis and PT. PT exercises were prescribed, attempted and not tolerated, then 2 times extreme shocks in my neck, something else was going on. I'm pretty athletic but my body told me something was wrong and targeted PT wasn't a good idea! We all know our bodies, the hill to climb is researching what's wrong, trying to understand human anatomy, relating it to how we're feeling then seek out "expert" help. Communicating to health care professionals we hope are on the cutting edge of treatment. This is a huge challenge and health care work IMO is extremely difficult. As things went along into June 2023 I was directed to Clark's office, again seeing a PA who asked insurance for an MRI which subsequently identified C5-7 herniations. He said "there's your problem" moderate to severe herniations, osteophyte complex on C6-7 moderate on C5-6. Recommendation was to deal with it as long as you can, then ACDF surgery saying it's not likely to go away on its own. I was scheduled to see Clark in August, 5 months after my injury! IMO the body is the best doctor so I waited and researched. I like to stay close to nature so I wanted to explore what least invasive techniques are out there to help us heal ourselves. I found Deuk Spine Institute in Florida. The patented procedure used a neodymium yag laser with a .5mm spot size (tiny) working in a 4mm canulus (tube) inserted through @ a 1/4 inch incision. It seemed viable and made sense to me even though I had reservations on any surgical intervention. Especially one somewhat experimental in nature, lack of peer group acceptance, not FDA approved, not covered by insurance and $35K. Getting a 2nd local opinion and still waiting for UBOrtho I opted for this procedure (August 30 2023) because it made "mechanical sense" to me (I graduated UB an Aerospace Engineer) but I am NOT a physician just a person seeking help. The final outcome of the procedure can take a year. My radiculopathy symptoms have largely abated but linger 80% better IMO. I don't know if this is a result of the procedure I undertook or my body healing. Now 8 months post op I sought to get care up to date and closer to home. I had the results of the procedure sent to Clark who I saw for the first time April 2024. She did another Xray, physical exam and told me she googled the procedure I opted for after reviewing the operative notes I had sent up from Florida. I had hoped she would have been interested in me and what I had done and would have wanted to understand more on my behalf as her patient and for her own medical knowledge. Prescribe another MRI to understand how the soft tissue looked post op, was the osteophyte complex less, was it gone, had the spaces between the vertebrae gotten worse or did things look better over all, then with this new post op data and any ongoing symptoms come up with a plan forward. Recommend for ex. let's give it more time before we pursue any further treatment or her specialty ACDF surgery. The gold standard in her words, adding she does 2-3/week and has for 12 years. She said "I treat symptoms" and that I had arthritis. I'm not really sure what to make of that attitude. She sure as heck didn't seem to respect or care about me and how I was feeling. She told me to "live my life". I can only speculate but to me she lacked human awareness, empathy, compassion, curiosity and passion to learn more of what she chose as a vocation deviating from accounting which a placard in her waiting room read. I have no idea of the quality of her work but this experience so far has me wondering what to do next....hope this helps someone else!"
"Dr. Clark gave me my life back. After having an adverse reaction preop from opiates for my herniated disc, I became dehydrated with an electrolyte imbalance. She admitted me to the hospital to treat the dehydration and electrolyte imbalance and operated on me the next day. I had a micro-discectomy on December 7, 2023, and today I'm pain free, and the sciatica is completely gone. Dr. Clark is not only a gifted surgeon, but she's a kind, compassionate human being who was very kind to both me and my husband. I will be eternally grateful to her."
"My experience was pretty much the same as others. Saw the PA Chris first and felt very rushed. Basically told me there was nothing they could do for my pain and didn't seem to care at all. I tried several other avenues to get help for my issue and was sent back to see doctor Clark herself. Pretty much the same experience a second time. No improvement and nothing they could do. She did take more time to listen to me. I eventually wound up seeing another spine specialist that recommended a nerve blocker shot with a steroid and it has done wonders for my pain. I can sit properly again for the first time in 3 years. I gave 2 stars because the office staff and x-ray technician were friendly, and because they were kind enough to take me anyways when I was late for the first appointment (due to bad weather)."
