This beautiful institution was constructed in 1892 and is a rare example of the Shingle Style in Somerset County. Believed to have been designed by New York architect J. August Lienau for attorney Stephen G. Williams, Tulipwood has a rich history that adds to its charm. In 1920, the property was sold to Rutgers University professor Leigh W. Tulipwood has retained its original beauty both inside and out, with a gambrel roof, porch with Tuscan columns, and six-over-six windows with louvered shutters on the exterior.
