Crater Lake is a stunning glacial lake located in Walpack Township, New Jersey, United States. The 1.6-mile loop trail around the lake offers a moderate hike with an elevation change of 111 feet. The trailhead is easily accessible, and a map is recommended due to the confusing inner-connecting road traces. The area was once a popular vacation community in the mid-1900s, but now offers a peaceful retreat in the ridge-top forest. Visitors can also extend their hike by connecting to other trails such as Hemlock Pond Trail and Blue Mountain Lake Trail, or even the Appalachian National Scenic Trail. Restrooms are available at the trailhead, and please note that Skyline Drive will be closed to vehicular traffic on weekends from May 21 to October 2.
