Our mission is to seamlessly connect New Jersey and the surrounding region by providing safe, reliable, and affordable public transportation services. With an expansive service area of 5,325 square miles, NJ TRANSIT is the nation's third-largest provider of bus, rail, and light rail transit, linking key destinations across New Jersey, New York, and Philadelphia.

Our extensive network includes 2,221 buses, 1,231 trains, and 93 light rail vehicles, operating on 253 bus routes and 12 rail lines statewide. Annually, NJ TRANSIT facilitates nearly 270 million passenger trips, playing a vital role in connecting residents with employment, education, healthcare, and recreational opportunities throughout the Garden State.

NJ TRANSIT is committed to inclusivity, administering publicly funded transit programs for people with disabilities, senior citizens, and residents of rural areas with limited transportation options. Additionally, we support privately-owned contract bus carriers with essential resources and equipment.

Directions to NJ TRANSIT Headquarters:

- By Train: Take any Northeast Corridor, North Jersey Coast Line, or Raritan Valley Line train to Newark Penn Station, or a Morris & Essex Line train to Newark Broad Street Station. A convenient round-trip shuttle bus service (a 9-minute ride) is available from Newark Penn Station.

- By Bus: Numerous buses provide frequent service to and from Newark Penn Station, including routes 1, 5, 11, 21, 25, 28, 29, 34, 39, 44, 62, 67, 70, 71, 72, 73, 76, 78, 79, 108, and 319.

- By Car: Directions are available from major routes including the New Jersey Turnpike, Garden State Parkway, Lincoln Tunnel, and Holland Tunnel. Parking is available near our headquarters.

"Unbeliveable. After the price hikes it feels like it's only gotten worse. Trains are always late, and today made us off one with no explanation and get on another, only to be turned away for being overcrowded. This is unacceptable - and higly dissapointed with the service for such a first world country's train service. Do better please."

"This is by far the worst transit company in the North-East. I commute 5 days a week into NYC from NJ and I would NEVER risk taking NJ transit as they have proven to be the most useless and rude service to exist. They constantly are late, constantly canceling service with little to no warning and their “employees” have little to no regard to you or your situation, I almost feel like they enjoy when they inconvenience us. PLEASE DO NOT USE THIS SERVICE. Take the PATH and from Newark or Harrison, the much more effective transit system. Finally, what HORRIBLE pricing. $32 for two one way tickets for a train that then gets CANCELED and NO REFUNDS. Bad company, bad people."

"New Jersey Transit offers Access Link para transit for customers with disabilities. The application process is lengthy, in that they do not offer a website to download and complete the application process. They mail out paper applications via USPS, that are faxed or emailed back to NJ Transit Access Link for processing. The hold times on the phone are lengthy, the representatives are helpful and professional."

"I like access link.most of time but Sunday I was waiting over an hour for bus I was told 5 minutes away according to Driver he then told customer service he picked me up when he hadn't I had to call several times to finally picked up. When I called customer service to again report this I was told sorry about that it was new driver it happens. He was told by dispatch to apologize but he never did. So if your ride keeps showing on way but does not arrive in couple minutes keep.calling . They could have sent an.uber but chose not to"
