Originally established in 1760 by William Livingston, New Jersey's first elected Governor, Liberty Hall has transformed from a private retreat into a vibrant public space. Livingston, a passionate botanist, planted the iconic Horse Chestnut tree that still stands today, over 250 years old and among the oldest in New Jersey. The grounds also host some of the oldest Bartlett and Seckel pear trees in the state, showcasing a living timeline of botanical excellence.
