Felix Valle House State Historic Site
Located in Ste. Genevieve, Missouri, the Felix Vallé House State Historic Site offers visitors a glimpse into Missouri's early French roots. The Vallé house, built in 1818, is furnished in the style of the 1830s and showcases the American influence on the French community after the Louisiana Purchase. Founded in 1967, the Foundation is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to safeguarding the architectural treasures of Ste. Genevieve. Our town boasts the finest collection of French Colonial architecture in the United States, including rare poteaux en terre (posts in the ground) and poteaux sur solle (posts on sill) structures. These buildings, along with early 19th-century American and German vernacular homes, tell the story of the diverse migrations that shaped our community following the Louisiana Purchase.
