Welcome to 1904 Flight Cage, a historic gem nestled within the Edward K. Love Conservation Foundation Cypress Swamp at 1 Government Drive, St. Louis, Missouri. Originally commissioned by the Smithsonian Institution for the 1904 World's Fair, the Flight Cage was intended for relocation to the National Zoo in Washington, D.C. However, the passionate citizens of St. Louis rallied to preserve this architectural marvel, leading to its purchase by the city. This decision laid the foundation for the creation of the St. Louis Zoo, the world’s first municipally supported zoo.
