Great Northern Depot - Museum
The Great Northern Depot Museum, located in Princeton, Minnesota, is home to the Mille Lacs County Historical Society. This historic railway depot is now a museum open to the public on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10 am to 2 pm. The museum features a new HO scale train layout exhibit showcasing the railroad from Elk River to Milaca in the 1900s. Visitors can also explore the recently completed Brickton Monument Expansion, located just 3 miles north of Princeton on Highway 169. Additionally, the museum offers Pioneer School sessions for children ages 6-12, providing a unique educational experience in a one-room schoolhouse setting. The museum is an IRS-approved 501(c)(3) non-profit organization and welcomes visitors to explore the rich history of the area.
