As the only steelhead egg-take operation in Michigan and the primary facility for Chinook salmon egg-taking in the state, the weir plays a crucial role in maintaining healthy fish populations. Visitors can witness the annual steelhead egg-take process each spring, as well as the harvesting of over 1,000 Chinook salmon in the fall. Anglers can enjoy fishing for wild Chinook and Coho salmon, as well as migratory brown trout and other resident species in the Little Manistee River.
