Pizza in Southbank

“We had the chicken parma and the creamy chicken mushroom pasta. The food was great and the portions very generous. Staff were nice too. I don’t have pictures of the food at the beginning but decided halfway through I had to review, so here are our half eaten plates. Trust me, they were delicious!”

“Love a good Toastie? Then this is your go to place if you live or visit South Melbourne/Albert Park. So many different choices and they are always packed full of ingredients. Seats inside and outside for convenience. Such a friendly team and definitely a place to visit.”

“Maybe the best pizza I’ve ever had. We got the pizza soppressa. The toppings were a perfect combination and the crust was amazing - chewy and wetter in parts and that puffy crunch towards the edges. Definitely one I’ll come back to again! EDIT: I came back again the next day, the Pancetta and Speck pizzas were also good but the soppressa is on another level.”

“Recommend booking in advance over weekends or holidays. The restaurant was very nice and comfortable. We arrived 30 mins early, but we were seated anyway. Traditional ordering and QR code ordering available. Had a delicious Turkish Delight mocktail with a traditional Parmigiana. Everything tasted fantastic. Even the fussy 12 year old loved her spaghetti! Prices were a little more than standard but not outrageous. Would come here again next Melbourne holiday.”

“Came here to try their ala carte a couple of weeks ago. Had a great food and a great service. The staff was polite, welcoming and provided great service. Ordered nori crunch, jamon on toast, eel hitsumabushi, wagyu foie gras rice, matcha creme brulee and yuzu sorbet Overall, recommend this restaurant! Would love to come back for omakase next time :)”

“Gradi at Crown Melbourne is renowned for being a past winner of the World Pizza Championships, and they have multiple locations spread across Melbourne. We discovered this restaurant through guide websites and it certainly lived up to its reputation. The interior was surprisingly spacious, bustling with activity, which only enhanced the overall ambiance. As for the food, it was simply delightful! Our decision to try their world-famous pizza, which had earned them the prestigious title, turned out to be an excellent choice. The pizza was undoubtedly the best we have ever tasted. Thr bases are chewy and puffed up around the edges. The thin, crispy crust, characteristic of traditional Neapolitan style, was perfection. We also indulged in their seafood marinara pasta, which left us captivated with each and every bite. Additionally, we savored the zucchini flowers we started with; they were both scrumptious and satisfying. Our dining experience was made even more memorable by our hostess, Kimberly. She took exceptional care of us, displaying utmost professionalism, kindness, and a lovely demeanor. Her beautiful smile added a touch of warmth to the evening. If you find yourself in Melbourne, Gradi is an absolute must-visit.”

“I found Soho when I was in a rush, looking for Dirk. He called me saying it was an emergency and he was stuck somewhere along Southbank. He sounded like he was partially underwater. I was sprinting along the river in a panic when I realised I was a little hungry, which was when I looked across and saw Soho. I wasn’t expecting much but boy oh boy was I surprised by the pizza. As soon as it was placed in front of me I knew I was in for a real treat. The dough was the standout, light, fluffy, slightly chewy crust with a touch of crisp on the crust bubbles. I would have to say this was actually one of the best pizzas I’ve had. Better than SPQR. For these reasons I have chosen to assign the maximum star rating, which is 5. Also Dirk had fallen into the river and needed to be resuscitated but he’s fine now.”

“We came here for date night. We got a table facing the river which was nice. We ordered the eggplant chips for entree which was delicious. We ordered lamb shank risotto and seafood spaghetti which tasted authentic. Do save some room for dessert, the self saucing chocolate pudding was divine. Would definitely come back here again!”

“We had a very pleasant dinner here. The waitresses were extremely attentive and friendly, and the food was fresh and delicious. My wife had a garden salad and bruschetta - both crisp and freshly made and I had fun with a (massively topped) chicken bbq pizza. Though we were obviously tourists, we were treated very well and we enjoyed ourselves greatly here. Thank you!”

“Great selection. Great prices. Easy ordering process. Pre made but fresh. Counter walk up (no dine in). Very quick service. Lots of cooked options. I travel the world constantly and this place is very, very adequate. A strong 4 if not higher. I rated it a 5 to raise the average. Definitely does not deserve a 3.4. Way higher. I’m returning next time in Melbourne. A go-to for sure!”

“Decades on and still my fav place to go on the now rare occasions that I venture to Crown. Excellent range in the menu. Food superb. All that will get a 4 star easy. It's Sam who looked after us that night that makes it. He is passionate without being inauthentic. Enthusiastic without being overbearing. He most certainly contributed to our enjoyment of the evening. Please take good care of him, he's old school service that are becoming so rare.”
