Southeastern Massachusetts Educational Collaborative
β OpenSoutheastern Massachusetts Educational Collaborative is a school located at 25 Russells Mills Road in Dartmouth, Massachusetts, United States. We focus on building relationships with English Language Learners and offer programs such as the Allan Blume Method @ Mass Maritime for an introduction to the new Massachusetts IEP form. Our institution is involved in community projects like the New Bedford: Wind, Water, Community Parking Meter Project, which is supported by the New Bedford Cultural Council and the Mass Cultural Council. We are also a test facility for the ParaPro Assessment, a standardized measure of reading, writing, and math skills for paraprofessionals and teacher's aides. Named in honor of the late Melvin Herbert King, a distinguished American politician, community organizer, and educator, our space is dedicated to fostering community spirit and development. Mel King was a towering figure in Boston's civic life, known for his tireless advocacy for low-income residents and his groundbreaking work in community organization. Over his long career, King made significant contributions to the city, including serving as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives for nearly a decade and being a pivotal candidate in the 1983 Boston mayoral election. He was a pioneer in the fight for racial equality and social justice, establishing numerous programs and initiatives to empower Boston's diverse communities.
