Established around 1748 as the churchyard for the Second Church of Christ in the West Parish of Pembroke, now known as the First Congregational Church of Hanson, Fern Hill Cemetery is steeped in rich history and tradition. Also referred to as Old Burial Hill and Gravely Hill, this cemetery has served the community for centuries and continues to be an active site for burials today. The cemetery features several expansions toward the picturesque Wampatuck Pond, offering a serene environment for reflection and remembrance. The oldest section of Fern Hill Cemetery is under the stewardship of the Town of Hanson, while the newer sections are privately owned and operated, ensuring meticulous care and maintenance.
