Morey Hill Summit and Stone Cairn
Welcome to Morey Hill Summit and Stone Cairn, a unique museum nestled in the picturesque town of Becket, Massachusetts. Located at Massachusetts 8, our site offers a fascinating glimpse into the history of the Jacob’s Ladder Trail, a once-bustling destination marked by the iconic stone cairn at the summit, reaching an elevation of 1,775 feet. This historical landmark was originally established during the grand inauguration of the highway in September 1910, led by Mrs. George Westinghouse. The stone cairn is a cherished relic from a bygone era, symbolizing the rich heritage of the region. In 2010, a centennial celebration of the scenic byway was held here, during which a new stone was added to the cairn, and descendants of the Westinghouse family revisited this storied site.
