Bear's Den is a popular tourist attraction located at 18 Neilson Road in New Salem, Massachusetts, United States. The Bears Den Waterfall, situated on the Middle Branch of the Swift River, is a hidden gem surrounded by secluded woodlands. The waterfall cascades down into a forested gorge, offering a picturesque sight for visitors. The area holds a rich history dating back to 1675, when Native American chief Metacomet held a meeting with neighboring chieftains at the Bears Den Waterfall to plan attacks on nearby towns. Today, the waterfall and its surrounding area are part of the Bears Den reservation, named after a black bear that once roamed the property.
