Northampton Community Gardens
Northampton Community Gardens, located at 51 Prince Street in Northampton, Massachusetts, is a 7-acre park at the former kitchen garden area of the Northampton State Hospital. Managed by the community of gardeners under the Northampton Parks & Recreation Department, the garden features 420 plots where organic gardening practices are strongly encouraged. Each of the 250 gardeners pays a fee for the season and contributes service to maintain the garden. Plots are 20 x 20 feet and include access to water, tools, and compost. Visitors are welcome to walk, watch birds and butterflies, but are asked to follow guidelines to preserve the gardens. The Garden is a program of the Northampton Parks & Recreation Department, managed by volunteers on the Garden Committee.
