Cascade Falls
Cascade Falls is a historic landmark and popular tourist attraction located in Elkridge, Maryland. Founded in 1907 as the Patapsco Forest Reserve, the park is Maryland's oldest state park and is home to some of the state's earliest mills and factories. Visitors can explore the park by foot, bicycle, or car, and discover the valley's rich history through wayside interpretive signs. The park has faced challenges over the years, including catastrophic floods that have damaged many of the valley's historic structures. In 1972, the area was devastated by Hurricane Agnes, causing extensive damage to homes, businesses, and park facilities. Rebuilding efforts took many years, with the Army Corps of Engineers playing a crucial role in the recovery.
