Aggie's Bar
“A fabulous place for beer, spirits and freshly made cocktails. The staff are amazing and the decor alone is worth a visit for. Highly recommended”
The Locks Coffee House & Bar
“Superb coffee, nice teacake and good (unobtrusive) music. A great place to refresh yourself when out on a long(ish) walk. Dog friendly. Very friendly and approachable staff.”
Red Pepper Cafe Bar
“Really enjoyed our first visit here, the lemon sole was gorgeous and very friendly staff too”
FOLD Bistro & Bottle Shop
“Absolutely fantastic food, some of the dishes are so interesting. The restaurant itself has a really lovely atmosphere and Freya (who served us) was so great and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. We will be back!”
Hare & Hounds Mill Brow
“Excellent food, nice cosy atmosphere with an open fire. This is not a standard Robinsons food pub, it has local fresh produce prepared by a good chef, with nice little extras. Staff are always polite and the best thing for us is that we can go somewhere for an excellent meal with our dog, as they welcome dogs and always ask if you want water for your dog. Since we moved to the area a couple of years ago it is our favourite place to eat out without leaving our furry friend home alone.”
The Windsor Castle
“Called in 4 days ago when everywhere was snowed under and the roads were deadly with ice! The absolutely lovely landlady came rushing to the door and guided us into the warmth. She had one of the staff make a hot coffee for my husband free! I bought a lager and lime which was just perfect. While we were there two paramedics called in to use the toilets; and again, the landlady made them both a cup of coffee free of charge! What a lovely, down to earth lady! The other staff were friendly too. Really nice, traditional pub with wonderfully welcoming staff. Highly recommended! ☺️”
The Strines Nightingale
“Strines Nightingale shows their is hope for an incredible venue, after death by annexed strangulation, that has been dished out by the corporate drinks industry to the independent pubs in the High Peaks. There’s nowhere you’d rather be locally. The type of place you’ll realise makes you want to relocate to the area. All whilst listening to music worthy of James Ford short. It’s effortless. You won’t be disappointed. A credit to the area.”
The Samuel Oldknow
“Cosy little boozer with an excellent selection of ales and ciders. Does various nights in the week (e.g. bottle night) with special promos, which is a nice touch.”
Northumberland Arms
“Love supporting our Community Pub. So much going on. We'll done Team Thumb. Looking forward to Street Food next Thursday and quizz at 8.15pm”
Libby's Bread and Wine
“Love it here, it’s one of our favourite places to eat, we are plant based and there’s always plenty to choose from, and we do have the fish now and then, it’s always gorgeous and tasty, and they do a dam good cocktail too x”
Ring O' Bells
“Great pub, well run and with a great atmosphere. Only stopped in for a quick drink but clearly has a great clientele of happy locals and visitors enjoying the amenities. Will definitely be back for the good though, menu sounds delicious.”
The Railway
“Absolutely stunning pub. Owner, Jenny, is lovely. Such a friendly pub with great atmosphere”
Costa Coffee
“A great place to meet others, excellent customer service. I was greeted by a friendly smile and didn't have to wait long for my Latte; found a quiet area by myself as I'd had a busy day so it was well worth it.”
Springfield Hotel
“We have stayed here twice in the past & found Kevin to be the perfect host. How people who have never stayed there can comment on the Springfield based on a TV program says more about them than it does about Kevin. How would they like their business run down by people who have not used it? The room was perfect for our needs & the breakfast more than adequate & cooked exactly to our liking. Kevin even offered to give us a lift to a local club as it was raining. We plan on staying again in the near future as soon as the current situation eases and the Springfield will definitely be our first choice in the area. My advice to anyone thinking of staying here? Read reviews of customers & not sad couch potatoes.”
